Very Vicky first appeared in comic books in 1992 in the Iconografix Special - her own book appeared in 1993, published by Caliber Press, and then subsequently self-published by John and Jana (a.k.a. Meet Danny Coean) through 1996 - and it was damn fabulous. On this page are some short Vicky stories that appeared in various places over those years, as well as some oddities thrown in for the hell of it, as well as the complete run of the main Very Vicky storyline.

Beyond Very Vicky

The Bachelor

This is a sample that we did for Bongo Comics to accompany a proposal that they were considering. As with Very Vicky, the first three issues were written in the format of a complete screenplay that, who knows, perhaps will see the light of day in some form or other. In the end, we withdrew the proposal for various reasons and John never, ever got work writing Simpsons comics - and this is all that exists of "The Bachelor" thus far.

Pontiffs on Parade    Part One / Part Two / Part Three

This back-up in Very Vicky ran for three issues and is a favorite of ours. It dates back to a joke we made in an interview, where we were asked what was next and we responded that we always did want to do a biography of Pope Celestine in the form of a Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movie. The interviewer laughed at our little joke and the rest, as they say, is history.

Lemme Tell Ya

This was a strip we did for an online company that paid well and went bust, unfortunately, because we liked the prospect of doing comics that involved more commentary than fiction - anyone who paid attention to our indencia and letters pages and distributor listings know what we mean.Plus, there was so much more we wanted to do with this character.

Our Panel of Experts

This was a strip we self-syndicated for a year with moderate success, but opted to discontinue it to pursue other work. It involved going down to our kids' elementary school classes and asking strange questions to the all the little kids that were willing to answer them. What resulted follows . . .

Pardon My Appearance

This was a column John wrote for Cheeseball Magazine, which ran about the same time that the Very Vicky: Time Shaker comic strip did, with Jana contributing an illustration sometimes.. Most of the subjects are probably dated by now, but perhaps the delivery is still enjoyable to some degree.
